Four Weeks

Last night at our Bible study we had the smallest small group we've ever had...
But we also got through the greatest number of verses in James we ever had...a whole seven verses!

Anyway, there was this amazing guy, Arun, who was there for the first time. As we drank red wine and ate tacos for dinner before opening the Word, he and Carrie had a fun time teasing each other and giving one another a hard time. He fit in perfectly! We were all impressed by his insights and amazed with his maturity and clarity of thought on world and faith matters. The surprise came when we found out he's only be at this Christian thing for four weeks! Then again, maybe it shouldn't have been such a surprise. Often, the beginning of our journey seems to be when we're most receptive, most teachable, most passionate.

Arun, who grew up Hindu and went to a Jesuit high school, had much to offer last night. He was a wonderfully unique and refreshing addition to our group.

Are you saying that those of who were NOT there were such a burden upon the progress of our group's exposition??

Hehehe....

Just teasing....

I rather had a good evening opening up a local rock show -- I played "Folsom Prison Blues", "I Walk the Line", and "I Still Miss Someone" by Johnny Cash, "What's Going On?" by Marvin Gaye, and "Sunday Bloody Sunday" by U2. My first 4 songs went well, I was interacting well with the crowd, but "SBS" was a flop. I totally screwed up the lyrics and ended quicker than I wanted to. But people liked my set regardless. You'll all have to see me sometimes....

I didn't even know you were playing somewhere, Adam! That's awesome. I'm glad you had a good set and I'm sure your rendition of Sunday Bloody Sunday was much better than you're giving yourself credit for. But I mean, after seeing that song in the Toyota Center don't you think you were setting yourself up to be a bit upstaged in your mind by the show a few days back? Cut yourself some slack, my friend! You'll definitely need to let us know when you're playing again--I'd love to see you perform sometime.
