Friday 9/5

On their drive into the county, from Kremmling into Silverthorne, Dale had seen some parts of the Blue River where he wanted to try fly fishing. He and Mom woke up and set out. Dale fished his heart out while Mom read by the river. Kyle and I attended the health fair at work. Who do you think had the better morning?

That afternoon Kyle had promised to take all of us out in the jeep. We were planning to stay out until after dark, so we packed some brats and s'mores fixings.

We drove out to Peru Creek and got out to explore the Pennsylvania Mine.

Kyle got this great picture of all four of us, with the mine and the whole valley in the background. The funny part is when you zoom in. It looks like Dale is falling off the back! After exploring around the mine, we found a place where we could pan by the river and enjoy a campfire. Dale and Kyle gathered wood and got the fire started while Mom and I tried panning. Unfortunately, we didn't find anything. The wind started blowing really hard, so we relocated to a new camping spot. Since I was the one to suggest the move, I got to hold all of the firewood on my lap during the drive! The new spot was just great. We were still right by the river, but there were large trees around to block the wind. Our brats and s'mores over the fire were delicious!
